Welcome to Behavioral Health of New York's psychological testing services. We provide in-depth
Neuropsychological Testing and Psychoeducational Evaluation for adults, children and teenagers.
Test Accommodations for LSAT, ACT, SAT, GMAT, MCAT
Many clients require extra time on standardized tests due to ADHD, learning disabilities, emotional difficulties, or other cognitive impairments. Our New York City neuropsychologist has in-depth knowledge of the neuropsychological test requirements that each Board demands. It's imperative that the testing, documentation, and communication of findings meet the Board’s standards. Each evaluation is accompanied by an extensive neuropsychological report which summarizes the findings in comprehensive, yet understandable language that delineates the suggested accommodation (e.g., extended time). The report also offers suggestions to optimize academic learning and test performance. Our Neuropsychologist ensures the evaluation is comprehensive and clearly communicates the results. We understand most clients need a rapid turnaround time so we typically provide the documentation within two weeks of the evaluation.
ADHD Evaluation and Treatment
ADHD can affect adults, teens, and children. The diagnosis is often made with minimal evaluation, such as through a short interview or questionnaire provided by a primary care physician or psychiatrist. These types of superficial evaluations often result in a hasty prescription for ADHD medication. While medication may or may not be warranted, clients are often left with a limited understanding of the diagnosis or how to manage their ADHD symptoms. An ADHD evaluation requires a thorough, empirically-based evaluation to discover the etiology of the problem and how to treat it. It's very important to differentiate ADHD from anxiety, depression, or other cognitive or emotional difficulties. Our neuropsychologist conducts an extensive evaluation of cognitive domains including intellectual functioning, learning, memory, attention, concentration, language abilities, visuospatial skills, and executive function. Emotional and personality assessment are also an integral part of the evaluation. Taken together, these in depth tests provide a more accurate diagnosis and thorough assessment resulting in a more suitable and focused treatment plan for ADHD or other concerns. Specific, individualized treatment planning for those suffering from ADHD will likely lead to long term benefits in academic domains, professional settings, and relationships.
Learning Disabilities
A learning disability is where the brain has trouble processing information effecting reading (Dyslexia), writing (Dyspraxia), and many math abilities (Dyscalculia). Some learning disabilities take the form of visual and auditory processing disorders where understanding language is difficult despite normal hearing and vision. These difficulties are best identified and remediated in childhood to prevent problems in school and in the adult workplace. Neuropsychological Evaluation of your child’s learning disability is necessary for school accommodations such as extra time on assignments/exams; a distraction free environment; preferential classroom seating; the assistance of devices (e.g., calculator), audio/visual aids; and a designated paraprofessional. These are just some examples of the accommodations schools can provide. Our Neuropsychologist will work with you and the school to provide the specific accommodations your child requires.

Neurological Conditions (Memory & Cognitive Impairment)
Neuropsychological assessment examines how well the brain functions when performing certain cognitive tasks, e.g., learning, processing and recall. The brain’s ability to perform cognitive tasks can be affected by neurological disorders such as dementia (e.g., Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease) and brain injury (e.g., concussion or mild Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI); by psychiatric conditions such as Bipolar Disorder or Major Depression; and by physical conditions like fibromyalgia, seizure disorders, or brain tumors. Neuropsychological assessment ascertains the degree of cognitive impairment pertaining to these conditions and differentiates, for example, between depression and dementia; between normal ageing and early Alzheimer’s or evaluates degree of recovery of function from a concussion. Early evaluation with a differential diagnosis will help determine the best course of treatment for these conditions. Our neuropsychologist will interface with your physicians, neurologists, or psychopharmacologists to formulate integrative and multidisciplinary treatment plans. We also provide cognitive remediation for cognitive compromise and/or memory decline.
